Give Yourself A Fucking Purpose

Deep warning. Deeper than I like and deepest I’ll go for a while - but feeling the urge to do it more than ever.

I’ve been furthering my research into deep thinking and the importance of getting yourself right mentally and the rest follows suit. The more I research the more life becomes pretty fucking simple. Life = Purpose.

That’s it. Give yourself purpose, you give yourself a life. A life of fulfilment because you’re doing shit that gives you purpose.

If you’re waking up without anything to excite you, you have a fixable problem. a problem that right now, looks like one of those ridiculous mathematical problems you see on an old school chalkboard from 1946.

It will require time, effort, headaches and mistakes but it’s a problem that NEEDS a solution. A life without purpose will make you spiral down into dark paths. Paths of addictions, escapism and depression.

What is purpose and what is your purpose? That I can’t answer, no one can but you.

I can’t tell you your purpose is to collect every cat that has ever been taxidermied. You might find most of them but somewhere throughout your search for stuffed ‘Bubbles’ you’ll realise that isn’t YOUR purpose, it’s MINE. So stay away from my dead stuffed cats motherfucker.

You have to dive deep into your own brain, push through whatever your parents said you should do, push through that haircut you thought was cool, push through doubts and judgement from every loser who is too scared to do what you’re about to do.

Doubt is where purpose gets knocked off its tracks. Doubt kills almost everyones dreams and it’s funny, doubt is just a thought in your brain, right next to where your dream is… How has that piece of shit ‘doubt’ have more control of your ‘purpose/dreams’? Sometimes it’s just an excuse ‘I can’t do that’, ‘I’m not talented enough’, ’no one will like me’. If that’s you, I’m calling you out, you’re just controlled by doubt, the meaningless opinions of others and scared of the scale of how much you need to do to fulfil your purpose. Look, anyone can do anything when they work hard and eliminate excuses.

I read a book recently called, ’The Courage To Be Disliked’. It talked about the type of people who place themselves above others by telling them that they ‘don’t know what they’ve been through’. It was an interesting thought, ‘place themselves above them’? But they’re coming from a bad place?

The books explains that because they are saying you ‘will never understand them’ they hold a superior status that you can never reach (because you haven’t experienced what they’ve experienced). The book then flogs people like that, it’s essentially an excuse to not do the work needed to be done to progress in life. To progress with a clear purpose that would result in fulfilment and happiness.

There are millions of ‘you don’t know what I’ve been through people’ but deep down they all know it’s just an excuse to not better themselves. Harsh but true and if you’re one - is it time to give that excuse up?

There is a organisation or council project called ‘The Man Shed’. It was created was to give retired men a purpose late in life. Build small free standing libraries. It’s a great some example of purpose, it’s a project. Start, middle, end and a sense of fulfilment. It’s a simple and lifesaving organisation that encompasses everything I’m talking about.

The moment you stop doing, you start dying. Hectic thought, but one I truly believe in. I don’t mean stay in your job forever, not in the slightest. ‘Doing’ can mean anything, hobbies, projects, passions, charity, creating a business, building closer family relationships, anything!

Ask yourself, what would make you spring out of bed every morning? This answer should take weeks to answer from reading it today.

Once purpose is CLEARLY discovered you must action it. Action it in clear, simple, achievable and measurable goals.

Break it down into daily tasks, so every day you’re working towards that purpose. Repeat and readdress on a regular basis.

This is short term pain and hard and honest work for insane long term gain. The major benefit is mental health - imagine waking up every day looking forward to working on that thing that makes you happy? Isn’t that what all of us fuckers want?
